Why choose Latvia?

Paediatric specialists at our clinics provide a wide range of treatment and care, treating challenging and complex cases. The treatment process is organised so that the patient receives effective, safe and quality care. This is made possible by adhering to global best practice and achievements in the realms of medical science and research, adopting and implementing it in daily practice.

Top 10 reasons why you should choose Latvia:

  1. Precise examinations. A wide range of functional and radiological examinations are available for children. Complex diagnostic services are available, performed by highly qualified and professional specialists.
  2. Professional team of medics. High-quality treatment is provided by experienced and knowledgeable doctors and nurses. Most doctors working at the children's hospital consider their work to be not just a service, but a mission. Doctors are educated and do internships abroad and in some sectors, such as cardio surgery, conduct complex world-class operations, in collaboration with foreign doctors.
  3. Modern surgery for children. Surgery is performed using effective globally recognised operation and treatment methods that reduce the risk of complications and significantly shorten the recovery period.
  4. Total care. We provide complete care administered by a wide range of specialists throughout the treatment process, starting with diagnostics through to post-surgery recovery.
  5. Availability of services. The healthcare available in Latvia is on a par with the level offered by clinics elsewhere in Europe but prices are significantly lower.
  6. Presence of parents. One parent can stay in hospital free of charge if the patient is a child up to five years of age. In more serious cases, for an additional charge accommodation can be arranged so that the parent can stay with an older child. A comfortable house for parents with all the standard conveniences is available within the hospital grounds.
  7. Convenient location. Travelling to Latvia is simple – plenty of travel options are available by air, sea, rail and road. Frequent and direct flights are available from Europe’s biggest cities and strategically important transport centres.
  8. EU quality standards. Infrastructure, environment and work organisation at our clinics correspond to the very highest European patient care standards.
  9. No language barriers. Latvian specialists are vastly experienced in working with foreign patients and can communicate in several foreign languages fluently.
  10. Added value. Latvia is located along the shores of the Baltic Sea and offers a wide range of active leisure options. No trip to Latvia is complete without a visit to Riga, which is the capital of culture in the Baltic States, as well as an architectural pearl and gastronomic paradise.

Treatment process – step by step

Individual treatment steps for each patient will vary, and a detailed treatment process will be determined by each patient’s needs, state of health and ascertained problems. In choosing to undergo treatment in Latvia, the patient’s family can primarily reckon with the establishment of a close relationship electronically followed by a visit to Latvia lasting several days. All the transcripts and opinions received to date in relation to the specific illness should be sent to the clinic. The more information that the doctor has access to, the easier it will be to for the doctor to form a diagnosis and choose the most appropriate treatment strategy.

It is important to take into account that medical treatment in Latvia can differ from the practice in the patient’s native country. Regardless of the amount of medical documentation submitted, initially it may be necessary to perform primary diagnostic procedures and consultations at our hospital to be completely sure that a quality and precise treatment has been prepared for the relevant situation.

General treatment process steps are as follows:

  1. Electronic communication with the chosen clinic, introduction to specialists and ascertainment of requirements (via phone calls, e-mails, skype calls).
  2. Arrival in Latvia – the performance of the following steps will be planned on specific dates:
    1. set diagnostic examinations;
    2. medical manipulations and/or operations;
    3. analysis of results and identification of subsequent treatment steps.
  3. Remote communication as necessary, monitoring results as required (electronically).

The duration of the visit to Latvia will depend on the medical treatment determined for the patient.
