About Dr. Jurģis Vītols
Dr. Jurģis Vītols is a gynecologist and obstetrician specializing in gynecological surgery. In addition, the doctor has received training in minimally invasive gynecological surgery, where he also obtained the first and second level certificate of the European Gynecological Endoscopy Association (GESEA MIGS I and II). In 2011, he obtained a doctor’s degree at the Faculty of Medicine of Riga Stradins University and in 2018 he completed his residency in the specialty of gynecology and obstetrics.
Dr. Vītols regularly attends congresses and seminars related to the topic of gynecological surgery as well as gynecological sonography. During the training process, Dr. Jurģis Vītols interned in France, in Clermont-Ferrand with world-renowned specialists such as Prof. Canis and Prof. Bocharishvili. In addition, the doctor has attended various seminars and master classes. Dr. Vītols mentor and main teacher is his father – Dr. Juris Vītols, who is one of the founders of minimally invasive gynecological surgery in Latvia and the first to start minimally invasive treatment of various diseases, such as endometriosis, fibroids and pelvic organ prolapse in Latvia. Dr. Jurģis Vītols continues what his father started and currently he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of benign gynecological diseases.
He is one of the few in Latvia who performs sonographic diagnosis of deep endometriosis (intestine, bladder, etc. localization), and also offers surgical treatment of this disease, offering globally recognized endometriosis excision surgery.
