Surgeon-mammologist’s consultation is required in the following cases:
a growth was found in the breast when palpating it;
breast ultrasound or mammography revealed suspicious growth in the breast;
bloody discharge from nipple;
retracted, abnormal nipple;
purulent inflammation of the breast (fever, pronounced redness and hardening of the breast, most often during lactation).
If a growth is found in the breast, tissue samples can be taken immediately to specify the diagnosis. After the examination and diagnostics, further treatment plan is discussed with the patient. Only regular examinations and repeated visits to the doctor are often required in case of benign breast growths.
Manipulations:
breast ultrasound examination;
breast growth aspiration and biopsy;
drainage of breast abscess (mastitis) under US control (pus is removed in a sparing way through a 5-7mm thin tube under local anaesthesia);
benign and malignant breast growth surgery (including breast-sparing surgery, axillary lymph node sparing surgery, oncoplastic surgeries).
