Two more members of the cluster have obtained quality certificates. The members of the Latvian health tourism cluster actively continued the certification process during this summer in order to improve and provide local and foreign patients with the best service. Quality certificates certify that medical institutions provide high-quality medical care, increase patient reliability, promote customer loyalty and a sense of security.
“It is a great satisfaction that quality, the role of hospitality in the field of medicine, is being paid more attention to not only by private medical institutions, but also by state entrepreneurs, in order to provide the best medical services to every local and foreign patient”, says executive director of the Latvian Health Tourism Cluster Gunta Ušpele.
This summer two more medical institutions from the Latvian Health Tourism Clusters’ members have completed the certification process. On August 16, 2022 Rehabilitation center Ligatne, received the Basic quality level certificate, and on August 17, 2022 Riga Maternity Hospital also received the Basic quality level certificate. Congratulations!
The rehabilitation center Ligatne belongs to the municipality of Cēsis region, which pays great attention to the quality of services provided and hospitality. They offers various medical rehabilitation programs using different professional rehabilitation devices and technologies. A multidisciplinary team is involved in the work with the patient, so that the most effective goal of rehabilitation is achieved with an individual approach.
Riga Maternity Hospital is the country’s largest and most modern facility for childbirth assistance and prenatal care with 70 years of experience. On average, 6,000 births are accepted in the maternity hospital every year, which is about a third of all births in the country. Specialists with high scientific and clinical competence work in the maternity hospital, they apply modern treatment methods and the latest technologies in their daily work. Riga Maternity Hospital regularly introduces innovations for patient safety, comfort, quality, regular practical staff training in medicine and hospitality is actively implemented. During such special moments, the care of the baby and the safety and comfort of the new mother play a very important role in creating a happy family.
Latvian health tourism cluster continues the certification process of the Quality Assessment System. At the moment, quality checks of the services provided are in process in 4 medical institutions.
The LHTC quality assessment system includes three levels. The BASIC level includes the basic things that are necessary as a company that receives or wants to receive foreign patients and clients. The ADVANCED level of LHTC already includes higher level quality requirements, those who approach foreign customers with special attitude and attention will be able to receive this assessment. The highest LHTC level SUPERIOR, for companies that attract and receive local and foreign customers with extra dedication and originality, providing top-class services. Thus, the companies that received the ADVANCED and SUPERIOR levels will serve as an excellent example in attracting local and foreign customers.
During the quality check, patient questionnaires are evaluated, data is analysed, quality and safety guidelines and systems are checked in each of the medical institutions, also service department, where the staff plays the most important role, as well as premises, information materials, etc.
Obtaining a certificate at one of these levels serves as a quality guarantee for further work with foreign medical tourism markets and as a quality assurance for foreign patients in choosing medical facilities. The year 2022 will be the year of raising the Quality of the Cluster, during which the certification process takes place, the service is improved, and the practical measures to raise the qualifications of the personnel are continued.
Quality improvement activities are carried out under the project “Latvian Health Tourism Cluster” No. 3.2.1.1/16/A/010 within the framework.
